Why is Telegrapher's Day celebrated in El Salvador

Every April 27 , the Telegrapher's Day is celebrated throughout El Salvador ; a special date that seeks to recognize all electrical communications employees for their hard work and spirit of sacrifice. But above all, it seeks to remember all the people who played this job and had a significant role in the technological and communications revolution in our country.

Next we will tell you why Telegrapher's Day is celebrated every April 27 in El Salvador.

Origin of the Telegrapher's Day in El Salvador

Telegrapher's Day is celebrated on April 27 because it was during this day, but in 1870, that the first telegraph line that linked the capital with the Port of Liberty was inaugurated in El Salvador, this work being the beginning of national progress.

In this way, the president of that time, Ricardo Rivas Vides, decided to declare April 27 as Telegrapher's Day through Decree 91 of 1946 that was published in the Official Gazette number 200 of September 10, 1946.

Although today, this communication system no longer works and has been replaced by modern forms of communication, telegraphs were a gigantic leap in the world of communications, which until then depended on smoke signals, mirrors, steeds and stagecoaches.

When the telegraph was invented and the first cables were laid along rail routes, the world had the means to connect immediately over long distances.
