Every August 11 , the Nutritionist and Dietitian Day is celebrated throughout El Salvador , and the rest of Latin America; a special date that seeks to highlight the work of all these nutrition professionals who with their knowledge help people to have healthier eating habits, which allows, among other things, to strengthen the immune system, contract fewer diseases and enjoy better health and quality of life.

Origin of the Nutritionist and Dietitian Day
The Nutritionist and Dietitian's Day was born in 1974, the date since it is celebrated in commemoration of the birthday of Dr. Pedro Escudero , an Argentine doctor and pioneer of nutrition in the country. During the 30s, Escudero, created the specialty in Argentina, when founding the Municipal Institute of Nutrition; the current School of Nutrition of the University of Buenos Aires, and also the School of Dietitians.
The impact was so great that this event helped other countries adopt similar plans across the continent. In El Salvador , the Day of the Nutritionist and Dietitian was established by the then President of the Republic Arturo Armando Molina through Decree 50 of August 9, 1976.
