Origin of Ordinance Day in El Salvador

Ordinance Day is a special celebration ; as already said, it is celebrated every May 26 throughout the Salvadoran territory. This day was born in the year 1972 through Legislative Decree 66 which established that this date be celebrated every third Sunday of May.

However, in 1993, said decree was amended by the then president Luis Roberto Angulo Samayoa, who declared that Ordinance Day would be celebrated in our country every May 26 , thus establishing a fixed date for the anniversary. . The latter decree number 579 was published on June 23, 1993 in Official Gazette number 140.
